The “i” is watching you!
The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation (SGC) has installed facial-recognition technology in the province’s casinos. It hopes to keep track of high-risk gamblers. The iCare program was developed by iView Systems which is based in Ontario, Canada. Vice-president of SGC, Bill Davies, is currently promoting this new system in London at the International Casino Exhibition.
The information gathered from the Intelligent Player Care program is recorded in order to follow gambling behavior and patterns. The program also requires for casino staff to be trained to identify problem gamblers. The one downside to this system is that it only can keep track of regular players. It cannot be used in tourist spots like Las Vegas where the influx of customers per year is too great.
